Summer wedding season is just around the corner! Like us, many of you probably already have a few weddings lined up to attend this season. We love summer weddings, as they usually take place outdoor, either at a garden, ranch, or winery of some sort. Plus we always have more fun with our outfits when attending a summer wedding, as we get to play with colors and prints!
Speaking of outfits, also like us you probably already have options in your closets. But for some reason, there is always the urge and necessity to buy a brand new outfit. The horror of someone noticing you wearing the same dress to two different weddings? Unacceptable! As we shop for our outfits for the upcoming weddings, we decided to share with you what we’ve been “loving” and “wish-listing”, or simply just adding to our baskets 🙂 Below are our picks on what to wear to summer weddings!

When in doubt, dresses always save the day, especially when it comes to wedding attire! Since the weather is warm and in most places humid, we prefer styles that won’t be sticking to our skin. The dress code for Summer weddings tend to be a little more relaxed than Winter weddings, probably because it is still bright out. Take advantage of the sun and nice weather, and celebrate the events with pretty pastel colors and beautiful floral prints!
One of our favorites lately is the two-piece set, be it mix and match or a matching set. Summer weddings are perfect for rocking the two-piece as they are whimsical and fun, especially when paired with a full circle skirt! Like dresses, feel free to have fun with colors and prints. You can never go wrong with a high waisted skirt paired with a crop top, this combo instantly elongates your body, making your legs look like they are miles and miles long!
Some of you probably are wondering, “can I wear jumpsuits to weddings?” Absolutely! It creates an effortless look that is very chic, plus you don’t need to worry about accidentally flashing your business to everyone. We’ve been obsessing over Halston’s jumpsuit assortment lately! It does get a bit tricky as some jumpsuits can look too casual or inappropriate for the event. Keep these points in mind and you will be fine.
1. Never wear a romper (short one piece) to a wedding, that is way too casual.
2. Be careful with prints as they can make your outfit look too casual. When in doubt, stick with a solid color.
3. Cropped, culottes and tapered legs are most petite girl friendly, the last thing you want is to look like you are drowning in your jumpsuit!
Now if you want to sport the latest and greatest in fashion when attending a wedding, off shoulder is THE trend right now. But we need to be careful here, as most styles offered tend to lean towards the casual beach vibe, and you don’t want to look underdressed at a wedding. When dressing up with off shoulder styles, try to keep the silhouette on the slimmer, more body fitting side. This can prevent you from looking too boho, or worse like a puff, at the wedding. Another important thing is make sure you are comfortable in it and that it fits well, you don’t want to spend the entire time adjusting that shoulder strap as it keeps creeping up to your neck, super annoying!
Another big trend right now is cutout lace, especially ones that create the illusion of “nakedness”. Now we don’t want to look like we are naked at weddings, as that is inappropriate and screaming for attention – not chic. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still sport the trend! The key here is balancing the neckline and hemline with the sexiness of lace cutouts. You still want to look classy even when you are expressing your inner sexual self 😉
One of our absolute favorite go-to brands for pretty cutout lace is Self Portrait. They create beautiful lace dresses that make us drool all over. You can also find options from brands like For Love & Lemons, Lovers & Friends, and Lover (so much love going on here). Their styles are a lot younger and revealing, so make sure to choose wisely!
No outfit is complete without the full look. Even if your clothes are amazing, if your shoes and bags aren’t, that’s a complete waste of effort. Most people already have their go to shoes and bags for weddings, so we aren’t going to bombard you much here.
With shoes, make sure they are comfortable as you will be rocking that dance floor all night long. We like to sport high heel sandals in Summer and let our toes breathe, and the two straps trend right now is perfect for that! As for bags, some like to sport their dependable Chanels, and some like to have fun with their clutches. For the latter, we have a few picks for you. If you like fun box clutches but don’t want to spend the big bucks, one of the best brands out there is Santi!
Lastly, the finishing touch. Since the outfits we recommended above are more on the solid color side, you can easily jazz it up with a statement necklace or earrings. Just keep in mind if you are going to go crazy with your necklace, keep the earrings simple, and vice versa. You don’t want to look like a bauble head. And don’t forget your sunglasses if you are attending an outdoor wedding! You want to be able to watch the precious moment of “i do”, instead of squinting your eyes the whole time!
