7 Travel Skincare Products to Keep Your Skin Dewy and Smooth

It is important to keep your skin hydrated when traveling. I have classic combination skin, with the T-zone being the oilest. My skin breaks out the easiest when I travel, especially international trips, as the body is adjusting to a new time zone. Your eating and sleeping schedules are completely out of whack, not to mention the dehydration from the plane rides. When I was in Greece, I was extra careful with my skincare routine with the constant sun exposure. Don’t get me wrong, I love a golden tan, but I do not want wrinkly skin! These are the 7 products I swear by at home, and especially when traveling, to keep my skin happy and pimple free.

1. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
It is known as the “Miracle Water” in Asia. The tagline is it makes your skin as smooth as a peeled hard-boiled egg. It is one of those products which you initially hesitate to try as you cannot justify the price, and you question its effectiveness as there is no such thing as “magic”. Well, I took the leap of faith 3 years ago, and have been a loyal user ever since. My skin did breakout when I first used it (which is normal) as it adjusted to the new product. But after a month, I noticed my skin was smoother, and more importantly, less prone to breakouts. It doesn’t smell the best, but you will get over it.

2. FRESH Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate
It is SO important to start your eye care routine early! Many people think they are still young and all the age-defying eye creams are for older people – so wrong. Once those wrinkles start popping up, it is way too late. The skin around the eyes are the most delicate, so it is very important to keep them nourished, and the earlier the better. I love the Fresh Black Tea eye cream as it really helps reduce puffiness and dark circles, very important when you are lacking your beauty rests from jet lags, plus the smell is just so “zen”.

3. SK-II Essential Power Moisturizing Cream
This is my night cream. However when I went to Greece I packed only this with me to save room. To my surprise my skin got noticeably dewier and smoother in just one week of using it day and night! It is expensive, and I still hate myself for using it to begin with as my skin is completely hooked! It really did help re-nourish my skin in Greece from the constant daily sun exposure. Not to mention it smells great!

4. SHISEIDO Sun Protection Cream for Face
You cannot go wrong with Shiseido when it comes to SPF for face. Do not be fooled by that little tube, it lasts quite a while and totally does its job. It applies smoothly and does not make you feel like you have a thick layer of sunscreen on your face. Even my husband was using it when we were in Greece and we were fighting over the tube. It also does not stink your eyes which is very important for swimming in the ocean or dipping in the pool.

5. L’OCCITANE Ultra Rich Body Cream Rich in Shea Butter
Susan introduced me to this when we were in Vegas, and I have been hooked ever since. It is one of the most moisturizing body cream I have used, and I love how it comes in this big jar! I usually use it on my feet, but when in Greece I just slathered it on all over the body. I peel quite easily after tanning, but I have not really this time so far, thanks to the L’Occitane cream. They also have other scents in their Shea Ultra Soft Cream line, with Rose being my favorite!

6. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
I got this as a sample from Sephora, and have been bringing it with me everywhere since. I use it when I get lazy and just want to apply an all-in-1 on my face, or when I am in a rush. I used this a lot when in Greece, as it was really hot and the last thing I wanted was to pile on moisturizer plus sunscreen plus foundation. This gives my skin a bit of coverage, while keeps it moisturized and protected from the UV.

7. WATER
Okay, it is not a product. But no matter what products you use, the most important thing is to WASH YOUR FACE! You can be using the most expensive cream in the world, but if you do not do the number 1 rule of cleaning your face before you go to bed, it really is just a waste of money and effort. Let your skin breath while you get your beauty rest. The more you take care of it, the longer you stay looking youthful and fresh!
